ADVICE ON USAGE
- On certain monitors, it is possible that the text tabulations will not look good. This problem is not specific to Rescue for 4D Data: you will have the same problem with other applications using RichTextFormat (RTF). To correct this problem, consult your retailer.
- For Rescue for 4D Data to operate correctly on Windows NT, it is imperative that you have the 'NT Service Pack 3' update.
- The management and organization of 4D Data are in perpetual evolution. This is why you must ALWAYS use the latest version of Rescue For 4D Data.
- Rescue For 4D Data is written entirely in Windows C++. Rescue For 4D Data does not use ALTURA. This enables it to avoid bugs due to intermediate layers, to better manage its memory, multitasking, integration with the Windows system and, thus, the various Windows Emulators for the Macintosh.
- Double clicking on a 4D file will never launch Rescue For 4D Data.
On a PC, the relation File - > Application is not the same as on a Mac.
On a PC, one type of file goes towards an and only one Application, and you must already have had the following problem :
'Open your database with 4D Utils. Leave it. Double-click on your file (.4DB) and (... surprise!), 4D Utils is launched instead of 4D... To return, launch 4D and open your database from within 4D'.
This is why we decided not to make a Windows relation. We did, however, implement several instances of 'Drag & Drop'.
- In order to adhere as closely as possible to the inherent structure of 4D (especially to the instructions Go to Record, Record Number, etc.), Rescue For 4D Data begins classification of the records from the number 0. Thus, the first record will be 0 and the hundredth record will be 99 (i.e. 100 - 1). Hence, when 4D declares a problem on a record X, you can easily identify the record in Rescue For 4D Data (i.e. to delete records using Editor) without having to convert...
- In all the windows, when Rescue for 4D Data is at work, there is small '¤' at the beginning of the name of the window. This can be useful when the window is iconised, as one can see whether work is finished only by looking at the task bar (without being obliged to resize the window).
- Revisit our Web site regularly. Because Rescue for 4D Data is in continuous evolution.
