- The Editor allows you:
-
- To remove a record,
- To rebuild an index,
- To modify the automatic sequence number of a file,
- To reset the flag to zero, depending upon the result of the last change made to the database.
This last button is only active if the last operation carried out in the database goes badly. The following are examples of bad operations:
- Interruption when backing up the bit file,
- Interruption when backing up the index,
- Interruption during the removal of an index,
- Invalid record address,
- Interruption when flushing the cache.

To Remove a Record

- To remove a record, click on the Delete Record button.
- The following window appears:

- Select the table from which you want to remove a record using the Table zone, then indicate the physical number of the record to be removed.

- Validate by clicking on the
icon. A confirmation dialog appears:

- To cancel the operation, click on the No button.
- To remove the record, click on the Yes button.

- Depending upon the result, Rescue For 4D Data will display either a confirmation dialog or an error dialog:

- To Rebuild the Indices
-
- To rebuild an index, click on the Rebuild Index button.
- The following window appears:

- Select the table and the field which you want to rebuild.
- The substructures are not represented. Because of how substructures function, recreating the index of one substructure in the file is a delicate operation. Hence, if you want to rebuild the index of a substructure, Rescue For 4D Data will rebuild all the indices in the substructure (and the included substructures).

- Validate by clicking on the
icon. A confirmation dialog appears:

- To cancel the operation, click on the No button.
- To rebuild the index, click on the Yes button.

To modify the Automatic Sequence Number
-
- To modify the auto sequence number, click on the Sequence button.
- The following window appears:

- Select the table in which you want to modify the automatic number.
- The automatic sequence number dialog appears:

- Modify and validate it by clicking on the
icon. A confirmation dialog appears:

- To cancel the operation, click on the No button.
- To modify the sequence number, click on the Yes button :

- If everything went well, Rescue For 4D Data will display a confirmation dialog:

To modify the Flag Result of the Last Operation
-
- Caution: this function can be very dangerous. ALWAYS use a backup.
-
- This flag indicates the state of data at the time the last change in the database occurred:
- Interruption when backing up the bit file
- Interruption when backing up the index
- Interruption during the removal of an index
- Invalid record address
- Interruption when flushing the cache.

- To reset the flag to zero, click on the Data Flag button. A confirmation dialog appears

- To cancel the operation, click on the No button.
- To reset the flag, click on the Yes button.
